Goudness Gracious

Goudness Gracious

Belgian Ale • 5.5%

$8.50 AUD

The day’s done. You’ve earned this.

Goudness Gracious is a Belgian-style Pale Ale made for the end of a good day’s work. Refreshing enough for a warm afternoon, with enough beer behind it to make it feel like something worth sitting down with. Clean, smooth and dangerously easy to drink.

Think golden hour, the BBQ fired up, sitting on the patio, mates around the table and nowhere else you need to be. The modern equivalent of knocking off from the fields and sitting down with a well-earned beer.

Not too big. Not too much. Just satisfying.

Where it started

This beer started when all of Jamie’s homebrew taps were chock-full of big strong Belgian beers at the same time. The type where the hangover starts before the glass is even finished. It was a bit too much of a good thing.

So an experiment started, take one big beer recipe, tweak it and scale it down. The result was a beer with plenty of big beer flavour, but a lot easier to drink.

During our first beer summer when we needed a new beer, this was the immediate first thought.

The first pro brew got a cheeky dry hop on a bit of a whim, resulting in what is essentially a pale ale with a Belgian twist.

A beer that perfectly balances all three aspects: malt, hops and yeast.

Every JKB Beer starts with a question, "What if..."

What if a pale ale could taste Belgian without becoming a big, heavy beer?

Pale ales are pretty good at being the beer you reach for when you want something easy to drink. But what if you could give one a bit more character without turning it into a big, heavy Belgian beer?

So we took the things we love about Belgian beer, especially the fruity and spicy character from Belgian yeast, and built them into a lighter pale ale.

Then we added a little cheeky dry hop for a modern citrusy twist.

The result?

A beer that drinks easily like a pale ale, but tastes like something you haven’t had a hundred times before.

"…clearly sold his soul to the devil to be able to produce the Belgian Ale, a beer that tastes like a Belgian Tripel with only 5% alcohol, making it absolutely smashable.”
